Independent. Family owned. Kansas rooted.
The Schendel name has been part of Kansas pest control since 1947. Schendel Pest Control of Concordia Inc. is an independently owned small business carrying that history forward.
Bob Schendel, a Kansas native and former U.S. Army entomologist during World War II, founded Schendel Pest Control.
Mike Lambert joined Schendel Pest Control and began a career with the company that now spans more than four decades.
Mike purchased Schendel Pest Control of Concordia Inc., establishing the Concordia operation as an independently owned Kansas business.
Mike and Hobi Lambert own the company with their daughter Leah Burgess and son-in-law Vinton Burgess, carrying the business into its next generation.
Independent in Concordia
The name is historic. The ownership is local.
Over the years, other operations carrying the Schendel name changed ownership. Schendel Pest Control of Concordia Inc. remains independently owned and operated in Concordia, Kansas.
That distinction matters to us. Decisions are made locally. Our customers work with people who know the communities we serve, and the reputation attached to our business is personal.
Hobi Lambert spent many years working in the office and helping build the business alongside Mike. As Mike and Hobi began looking toward retirement, Leah and Vinton joined them in ownership.
Vinton brings a background in Kansas agriculture and agribusiness to the company, experience that complements Schendel's growing vegetation-management operation.

A second chapter
Vegetation management grew here in Concordia.
Vegetation control was not inherited from the original Schendel company. Mike Lambert started that part of the Concordia business roughly 15 years ago, beginning with a single 1976 Chevrolet flatbed pickup and building the operation from the ground up.
